Subtle Bodies

As I work with people, I’m able to sense a variety of structures and phenomena taking place within an electromagnetic field that permeates and extends from the human body. This electromagnetic field, which is commonly referred to as the aura, has a number of layers, each having their own specific functions. Some of the layers are intricately structured and appear to form a grid work of fibers. Other layers appear to be more fluid in their makeup.

Within the aura, there are a series of vortices referred to as chakras. Each of the individual chakras has it’s own specific function. The chakras help to facilitate various aspects of our awareness, such as our sense perceptions and they govern the functions of the organs and systems within our body. The development of the chakras also pertains to our ability to function in various aspects of our lives. I refer to the chakras and layers of the aura collectively as the subtle bodies. The subtle bodies are an extension of our physical body. Every aspect of our subtle bodies corresponds in some way with the various organs, systems and functions of our physical body, and the expressions of our consciousness. Both the subtle and physical bodies comprise much of what we refer to as our mind.

I’m able to feel the chakras through my hands as I scan the body. At the same time, I’m getting an internal visual image that corresponds with what I’m able to feel with my hands. I usually look into the chakras of the people that I’m working with at the beginning of the healing session. This allows me to get a sense of what’s going on with an individual. I can often feel what kind of emotional space a person is in, and what kind of issues they are dealing with. I’m able to see the kinds of resources a person has to work with. I can also sense the deficits that occur when a person fails to develop the resources they need to function in various aspects of their lives. As people come in for follow up sessions, I am able to monitor how they are progressing from one session to the next.

In some ways the subtle bodies are like a combination of circuitry and software. They help us to process the events of our lives as well as our mental and emotional responses to what is happening. The events of our lives, particularly those of greater significance may leave lasting impressions upon us. At the time of these events, we may have very powerful emotional responses. Our mental and emotional responses to these experiences often lead us to formulate beliefs about our selves, or the world we live in that may not necessarily serve us. For instance, we may experience some form of abandonment or possibly other traumatic event at some point in our lives. We may find ourselves overwhelmed by what is taking place and are not able to really process our internal responses to what has occurred. Many of us are limited in our ability to cope with what is happening, so the thoughts and emotions associated with these events tend to get pushed down inside of us. From there much of our thoughts and feelings will drop out of our conscious awareness and fall deeper into our subconscious, where they become ingrained or hardwired into our makeup. This is part of the reason why we develop patterns of creating or attracting the same kinds of events or people or events in our lives. In addition we become hardwired for specific kinds of emotional responses such as anxiety or depression. In some instances it will result in biochemical changes within the brain that further reinforce these painful emotional states. Structures will usually develop within the subtle bodies that reflect these patterns. These structures tend to rigidify over time, and become reinforced, as we tend to create similar experiences or find ourselves triggered into the same kinds of mental and emotional responses. In fact, emotionally traumatic events often result in a disfigurement of specific chakras.

Invasive physical trauma resulting from surgery or severe physical injuries such as those resulting from automobile accidents will tend to damage the chakras and the layers of the aura. The resulting damage to the subtle bodies impairs the body’s ability to heal itself, and that’s why a person can have so much difficulty bouncing back. It will often cause a person to feel spacey, disoriented and like they’re not fully present or in their body.

The chakras go through a process of development from the day we are born as our bodies and minds develop. However, they may fail to develop in many respects. This is reflective of the fact that many people are not that fully present in their body. The chakras are often very underdeveloped when we’re not nurtured or we do not feel safe and comfortable to fully be present and engage during the years we are growing up. The chakras also fail to develop when we do not have a clear sense of what we truly want in life, so we settle for mediocre jobs to pay the bills or become couch potatoes.

Spiritual practices can facilitate the development of the chakras. It helps to clean up a lot of the gunk in the subtle bodies. These practices often bring about a greater refinement in the chakras and layers of the aura. I often notice the formation of other faculties unique to specific kinds of spiritual practices that deepen the person’s connection the higher power. Such practices do not necessarily facilitate the healing of the parts of us that are hurting and in some instances cause the person to become less grounded.

I notice the greatest development in the chakras in those individuals who have a clear sense of what they want out of life that are consistently working to make their vision a physical reality. We all face challenges or obstacles along the way, but you grow much more powerful as a person when you face the challenges directly and find a way to work through, resolve and sometimes go around the obstacles. There are many steps and stages involved in becoming the person you want to be and getting what you truly want out of life. Look around and ask yourself the question with each day, "What can I be doing to fulfill my vision or purpose at this time?" then take whatever constructive steps you can to make it happen.

Healing takes place on many levels simultaneously during the individual sessions. There is a reconstructive or regenerative process that happens on a physical level to heal the body. The unhealthy destructive models or patterns that have hindered a person in their life are brought to the forefront during the healing sessions. As that happens a process of reconfiguration occurs that facilitates the construction of new models that enable us to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. Difficult or painful emotions are softened and neutralized in a way that enables a person to truly resolve the issues that have adversely affected them. A building process takes place through out the subtle bodies. The subtle bodies begin to reflect the changes that are taking place within the person’s body, mind, emotions as well as the changes that occur in their outer life. The individual chakras usually grow larger, becoming much more elaborate and refined as they begin to function at greater levels. In some ways it’s like upgrading the circuitry and software of a computer.

Many people report that they experience a greater self-awareness along with a more profound sense of integration and that they continue to develop in ways that have enabled them to go so much farther in their personal and professional life. As a result of this healing, people begin to clean up their lives. Addictions begin to fall away, and people begin to create healthier personal relationships. It’s all about becoming more of who you truly are.
